My name is Saffie Carew. I am originally from The Gambia and I have lived in Norway for 5 years.

I have 31 years experience in natural hair-care, styling and designing different hair-styles. I have specialized in all hair types. I have been braiding hair since primary school where I used to braid the hair of my teachers and class mates. I have worked with national as well as international salons.

I opened my first salon in The Gambia in 1988. I did then open my second salon in The Gambia 1996. I have trained some youths including my nieces in this trend which enables them to be financially independent in The Gambia.
 
I had my other natural hair care and locs training at Khamit Kinks in Atlanta, USA, where I worked after I finished my training. I have also worked with Cornrows & Co. in Washington DC, USA, as well as with Oh My Nappy Hair in Los Angeles in USA. I have also worked with I D UK Salon in London in the UK, with Serenity Hair & Beauty UK and with
M K D barbers, UK. I have also - after I moved to Norway - been working with Botea Hair Salon and Dead Ends in Oslo before I opened my own salon.

Carew's Roots The ultimate Afrocentric Hair Studio in Oslo has been up and running since November 1th 2018.
